The volume and systematization of violences, the characteristics of the perpetrators and their relationship with public institutions and impunity are some of the factors that point to the need for extraordinary measures to ensure justice, truth and reparation.

In these contexts of high-intensity chronic violences, would it be advisable to implement transitional justice processes as a mechanism for building peace? What conditions would have to be in place for these processes to be viable and transformative?

These questions will be the focus of the discussion with Guillermo Trejo (Notre Dame University) and María Camila Moreno, director in Colombia of the International Centre for Transitional Justice.

The session will take place on Tuesday 11 May and is part of the series entitled “Latin America: How to face violence from peacebuilding” organized by ICIP.

All debates in the series will stream live at the ICIP Youtube channel at 6 p.m (CET).
