Collective awareness for social transformation is emerging as a key element to disavow the use of violence.

How can we move towards strengthening a cohesive social fabric? Can the discourse of peace articulate agendas of different social struggles, sometimes even fragmented? What do the experiences of nonviolent resistance in defence against structural violence teach us? How do victims and human rights defenders become peacebuilders?

These topics will focus the dialogue between Esperanza Hernández Delgado, an academic and researcher for peace at the Universidad de La Salle in Colombia, where she coordinates the Laboratory for Peace; Sabine Kurtenbach, principal investigator at the German Institute for Global and Area Studies; and Verónica Zubillaga, professor and researcher at the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Venezuela.

The session will take place on Tuesday, May 25 and is part of the lecture series: “Latin America. Dealing with violence from peacebuilding“, organized by ICIP.

All the seminar sessions take place from 6 pm to 7.30 pm (CET) live via the ICIP YouTube channel.
