Throughout the year, ICIP organizes small-format reflection activities, such as gatherings and analysis sessions, for a specialized public, which allows them to delve deeper into the issues raised.

Challenges and opportunities for peace in Central America
On February 12, 2024, the ICIP hosted a colloquium organized with Huacal as part of its project Violence, militarism and human rights in the Northern Triangle of Central America.
It counted on the authors’ participation in the report Violence and Militarization in the Northern Triangle of Central America. A view from human and gender rights: Carles Feixa, Veronica Reyna, Isabel Aguilar and Ismael Moreno. Jeannette Aguilar, an expert in security policies and the search for missing persons, and journalist Suchit Chávez participated.
Violence and organized crime in Central America
On November 22, 2022, the ICIP organized an analysis session with the journalist and anthropologist Juan Martínez d’Aubuisson, who is recognized for his long career in analyzing criminal actors in El Salvador and other countries of Latin America.
Gabriela Poblet, from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), presented and conducted the event.
Youth gangs and the State in El Salvador. Balance on hard-line policies and truces
On May 10, 2022, ICIP hosted a panel discussion with Chris van der Borgh, a professor at Utrecht University with a long track record of research and numerous publications related to public policy to address violence in El Salvador. Carles Feixa from Pompeu Fabra University introduced the session.
It was organized as part of ICIP’s collaboration with the LEBAN project: Legalize gangs? The constitution of associations based on youth street groups in Spain, Ecuador and El Salvador: evaluation and prospective (2000-2025).
