Once again this year, ICIP will be participating in the Conference on Peacebuilding with a Gender Perspective, organized by the Ibero-American University of Mexico City (IBERO) and now in its sixth edition.

The conference will be held from 7-18 November in a blended format and will address various topics related to peacebuilding with a feminist perspective, such as enforced disappearances, community security and justice, the right to land or the inclusion of women in peace processes.

ICIP will participate in two of the sessions.  First of all, on Tuesday 8 November, Nora Miralles, member of the ICIP working group on security policies in Catalonia, will participate in the roundtable entitled “Concrete experiences of security from civil and communal societies: successes and obstacles” (8:00 pm in Catalonia).  She will be presenting some of the conclusions of the research on good practices of local security in Catalonia that ICIP will soon publish in the “Tools of peace, security and justice” book series.

Then, on Thursday 17 November, Sandra Martínez, head of ICIP’s “Alternatives of Security” area, will participate in the workshop “Let’s talk about feminist security in Latin America: What does it mean and what challenges does it entail in contexts of violence and peacebuilding?” (4:00 pm in Catalonia).  Other participants include JASS Mesoamérica, CIASE, CINEP and Mujer Diáspora.  The workshop is included in the Latin American network of women, peace, security and dialogue, of which ICIP is a member.
