Fourteen years after the start of the popular uprising in Syria, the country remains trapped in a deep political, social, and humanitarian crisis. With a regime clinging to power, a weakened opposition, and a population still suffering the consequences of the conflict, the key question is: what does the future hold for Syria?

To reflect on the current situation and possible paths to peace, ICIP is organizing the session “Syria, 14 Years Later: Resistance, Hope, and Prospects for Peace,” a conversation between journalist Oriol Andrés, author of Syria, the Faces of the Revolution, and Syrian activist and historian Nour Salameh, a member of ICIP’s Governing Board. The discussion will be moderated by Lurdes Vidal, a professor of International Relations and an expert in Arab politics, who has also recently joined the ICIP Board.

The event aims to provide an informed perspective on the resilience of Syrian civil society, hopes for change, and possible ways out of the conflict. It is part of ICIP’s focus area on “Memory, Coexistence, and Reconciliation.”
